Keep Working Toward Your Goal Don’t Let Regret Hold You Back
Aug 28

I don’t know about you but sometimes I allow myself to feel bad because I’m getting older and haven’t achieved as many things as I would have liked. However, once again, the Olympic games provided some true inspiration for me. Another swimmer, Dara Torres, competed in the games and broke records at the age of 41. I couldn’t physically have done what she did at age 25 much less 41! During an interview with her, she mentioned that she has a team of people who work with her to help her overcome any problems that age presents, ie. sore muscles, fatigue, etc. Working with her team, she is able to do more than your average 41-year-old.

It truly inspired me to look back and remember some of the goals I had many years ago that never materialized. Instead of just assuming that they’re no longer achievable, I’m going to try to reach some of them now. Of course, none of mine are physical goals that will involve intense physical training but sometimes dealing with mental issues is even more difficult. It takes a lot of dedication to overcome those messages in your head (and from well-meaning individuals) that try to tell you that you can’t do something. For me, I do a lot of reading of uplifting motivational materials. If I’m able to listen to recordings, that’s even better. These motivational resources serve as my “team” to help me reach my goals.

If you’ve let some of your heart’s desires go by the wayside because you thought you were too old, don’t give up. When you really want something, anything is possible. What if you could reach that lifelong dream? Wouldn’t it be marvelous?
