Transition. It seems to be the buzz word of the day. Right now, we’re hearing it used in the context of politics as we transition from one president to the next. However, each of has periods of transition all throughout our lives. How we handle these times often determines our future success in a particular area.

So, how do you normally handle a transition? Do you welcome it and use it as a time to grow or do you dread it and fret that you have to make a change? As we grow older, sometimes it is harder to make changes and to accept them. We feel that we know better how things should go, and we don’t appreciate having to go against what has worked in the past and what we think is best.

Well, however, you’ve handled it in the past is in the past. You can decide anew how you want to handle change in your life. I suggest that you embrace it because most likely you don’t have a choice about making the change. If you’re going to have to change anyway, why not make the best of it? Consider it training for how to deal with the rest of your life. The more open you are to change and new things, the more you will be involved in your life and the world around you. This will allow you to live the best life possible, and isn’t that what you really want anyway?
