If you’re in my age bracket, you’ll remember the Barry Manilow song, “It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve.” You can listen to it on my MySpace page. Although it’s a bit of a melancholy song, it has a good message. Basically, it says that no matter what we’ve been through and what we have to look forward to, we’ll be just fine.
So, here it is again–December 31. What does that mean to you? Are you happy about how things went the past year or are you upset about them? Most likely, you’re a little bit of both, and that’s okay. After all, life is a mixed bag. The older you get the more you realize that you really do have to take the bad with the good and that both are part of living a long and successful life.
For me, I’m looking forward to creating new memories and learning new things in the coming year. When I think back on 2008, I remember the sad times when I lost some people in my life. Yet, how can I forget the many happy times spent with my children, grandchildren, and new friends? So, I’m sealing up the time capsule of 2008 and putting it in my memory vault where I’ll be able to pull it out and reminisce in the future.
Enjoy this New Year’s Eve. Watch the Times Square ball drop. Go to a party or spend time with friends. And, remember, that you’ll be just fine in 2009.
