Consider the postage stamp. Its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to something until it gets there.–Josh Billings
As you know by now if you regularly read my blog, I absolutely love quotes. This particular quote is definitely a thought provoker.
If you’re anything like me, I have a problem with following through on projects. Not that I don’t want to. There just seems to be some invisible force that keeps me from finishing things. I am working on this and am much better than I was years ago.
So, how can we compare ourselves to postage stamps? Well, the way I see it, each of was put on this earth to make a difference in some way. Maybe you’re meant to write a inspiring book or beautiful piece of music. Perhaps you’re supposed to start a foundation or company that will affect the lives of many others in a positive way. If you’re a parent, you have automatically been put here to help shape the future generation in addition to whatever else you may be meant to do.
Just think, if you can’t stick to something, especially to that thing which you are meant to do with your life, you will never really reach the end of your journey. True, you may pass on from this life but you could leave something very important undone.
As I’m growing older, I continually realize how vitally important it is that I make a difference now, today. Tomorrow is never guaranteed but age makes you take it more seriously.
Great quote and one for keeping close by as a daily reminder. I enjoyed reading your thoughts about life and how you applied them to a postage stamp. Stick-to-it.....thanks for sharing Annie http://twitter.com/HigherFrequency
