All that has been in the news headlines lately here in the United States is the stimulus package–how we need it, what should be in it, etc. I’m not a very political person although certain issues will definitely get me contacting my congressional representatives. Today I just feel like I need to say something, so for a totally different sort of post, here’s what I’m thinking.

In normal everyday life, you don’t look at all of your problems at once and try to solve them en masse. You take the time to look at each problem individually and brainstorm for possible solutions. So, why does the government think that this mass approach will work? It seems to me it would be better to just focus on one thing–stimulating the economy. Leave the other problems for another day.

Another point is that typically you can’t solve a problem by trying too many solutions at once. If I have a problem, I will try one solution. If it works, great. Problem solved. If  it doesn’t work, I’ll try the next solution on the list and continue until something works. The government is trying to solve multiple problems with one bill that is just supposed to do one thing–stimulate our economy.

Government could take some serious lessons from us normal people, don’t you think?
