This week I read the novel, The Choice, by Nicholas Sparks. Although it is a love story, it is so much more. Without giving away the plot or the ending, let me just say that the hero of the story has to make a very serious decision involving whether to keep a promise he made or to break it because of his love for the heroine. I found it extremely hard to put down the book once I started reading it because I wanted to know what he decided to do.

The book shows us the importance of choices in our everyday lives. Sometimes the choice is of minimal concern; other times it is a case of life or death. Some of the best choices that you will ever make in your life will not come easy. You may agonize for days, weeks, or even months in some cases. However, once you have made your choice, you will be prepared to reap the results – good or bad.

I think that success is the same way. Often, success in life or in a particular area of life appears to be hidden and not a real possibility. However, as we persist in living our lives with the expectation of success, gradually the success appears. And, when it does, it is truly worth it. Often it is as simple as making the choice to succeed and then allowing success to happen in its own time.
