All the news recently is about Swine Flu, how it’s spreading, what we should do to be safe, and on and on. Unfortunately, many media outlets choose to use fear to sell their story instead of providing rational accurate information, and so many people are truly frightened. Just the name, Swine Flu, has a horrible undertone to it. However, it’s good to remember that it is just a type of influenza. People can recover. It’s not an automatic death sentence.
No matter what happens to you, if you get Swine Flu or if you don’t, your attitude can make a world of difference. People who are stressed and worried get sick more often and these same people take longer to recover when they do.
The key is to have a positive attitude. Trust that if you should happen to get the flu you will recover. Follow steps to decrease the likelihood of your getting it. Take extra vitamins, get lots of sleep, and avoid situations where you may be exposed. Stay informed from a reliable source so you know about any breaking developments.
Whatever you do, don’t let all the negative news get you down. Keep doing the things you enjoy and spending time with the people you love. That’s what life is all about.
