Tonight I was listening to one of my favorite singers, Reba McEntire. As I was listening to one of the songs, I realized that every time I listen to it I think of one of my daughters and how proud I am of her. So, I picked up my phone and sent her a short text telling her that. She texted back and we had a great, albeit short, conversation.
Growing up, I could never have imagined conversing with my children in 160-character blocks of air space but, hey, that’s life today. And, you know what, it was so convenient. No need to deal with the phone and possible interruptions. I got right to the point and told her what I wanted to say. Too bad that we can’t save special texts the way we can save special notes written on paper, but I hope that the memory will stay with her for a long time.
Next time you realize you want to share something with a special loved one, do it right away. Whether it’s through a text, phone call, email, instant message, or just plain old pen and paper, don’t wait. There will never be a better time than right now.
