Where Did All the Time Go?

Here’s another fantastic thought-provoking quote:

“Time flies. It’s up to you to be the navigator.” ~ Robert Orben

I love this quote about time. As I get older, it seems like time is flying by whereas before it just sort of jogged by. It’s getting harder to remember how long ago certain events actually happened. Sometimes it seems like just yesterday and other times it seems like centuries ago!

At this stage in life it becomes evident that you’re in charge of your own time, and if you’re not happy with how it’s being used it’s your own fault. A tough idea to swallow but true nonetheless.

I’ve always had a challenge managing my own personal time. Interestingly enough, I always managed time very well when I was working for an employer. Whether that means I don’t respect myself that much or whether it’s a matter of not having enough structure at home I don’t know.

To help keep myself on track, I’ve started doing something different. Whenever I find myself doing something and wondering why I’m doing it, I ask myself, “Is this something you really want to do?” Since time is so precious I want to make sure that I’m spending my time on the things that are truly important to me or are necessary in the day-to-day scheme of things. Just taking the time to stop and ask this question is really helping me to focus and get the things done that I need to get done.

If you have a similar problem with time and wonder where in the world it has gone, why not give this technique a try?
